Autumn is here!

The month of October signals the beginning of Autumn; the season of colours and many changes in nature.

Over the past year we at CFL also have had our fair share of changes. There was the physical transformation of the farm with the addition of the Stockbarn, the Porta-cabin offices and the Adult Learning Centre. During this makeover we constantly had to adjust and adapt our daily work routine to accommodate the changes. There were new H&S procedures to safeguard all the folk, staff and projects that had to be relocated and during one or two days we even had to make do without water or electricity for a few hours!

But it was all worth it. You only have to walk through these new buildings to see how those in our care enjoy the facilities and benefit from the improvements.

There have also been some changes in our staff team. Not only did we have to say goodbye to some of our fellow workers but we also had the joy of welcoming new people who were called to serve the Lord in this ministry. We continue to pray, believing that at His perfect timing the Lord will send us the individuals for the posts that are currently available.

The most precious changes however have been the two professions of faith of residents in our supported homes. For others in our care positive life changes are taking place, because of this ministry. The joy of seeing Jesus mending broken lives remains an overwhelming experience. We continue to trust Him to give us wisdom and sensitivity as we serve Him, while witnessing the power of His love at work.

As we look at nature welcoming the new season, and as the leaves start turning and the days get shorter, we are in awe and assured at Jesus’ authority over all things, most of all over the things we have no control over. Therefore we can confidently trust Him not only with our own hearts and lives but also with the broken hearts and chaotic lives of many of those we have the privilege to support.
