The Season of Goodwill

This is the time of year when words such as 'love', 'peace' and 'joy' become part of everyday vocabulary and we find it on the festive decorations and in the messages of greeting cards. Most people will agree that they associate the Christmas period with the notion of goodwill, but what on earth is that all about and where did all this goodness start?!

Luke's account of the birth of Jesus tells us that God delivered His message to the shepherds via a multitude of angels, singing:
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14

God offered His goodwill to all men by sending us Jesus. Jesus not only brought peace between man and God but while He was on earth He also brought glory to God by living a sinless life and setting an example for us. Jesus showed us how to love, live and serve and at CFL we strive to follow in His footsteps. Therefore we don't have to wait for the 'Season of Goodwill' to care for others! Each day at CFL we intend to share Jesus' love with all who come to Crag House Farm; whether it is to work on a project, to deliver supplies or to enjoy refreshments in The Granary.

We also pray that Jesus' love will touch all those in the community we befriend and help with accommodation, budgeting, cooking and other life skills. On Christmas Day we provide a Christmas lunch for some of those who have nowhere else to go. It is usually a day filled with lots of laughter, chatter and excitement as the CFL family celebrates Christmas.

Christmas is also a wonderful time to remember the joy and love that Jesus has brought to this world. Most of all we rejoice in the hope of salvation and restoration that He offers.

Isn't it wonderful that the message the angels delivered so long ago is still God's message to people everywhere today?

We shared a special Christmas day together at the farm with people who would otherwise have been alone.
