How Great is our God

Swine Flu and the recession tend to be the headline makers these days and both these issues impact the work of Caring For Life.

In March 2009, the ‘Times Online’ reported that 120 small businesses go bankrupt every day and as a result 36,000 small businesses are expected to close down this year. This is a startling and demoralizing prospect.

geraldineHere at Caring For Life we have always been aware of God’s goodness: He has been providing for all our needs for the past 22 years.

Since the charity started in 1987, the backbone of our financial income has been and remains the generous support of our loyal supporters who are responsible for more than half of our total income. This remains true even in the midst of the current recession. Where Grant Making Bodies find it more difficult to offer funding at the same level as before, or in some cases no funding during these challenging times, our supporters’ provision remains a huge comfort. Those who are able to also offer their valuable time and come to Crag House Farm as volunteers and help lift the pressure that is on the staff team as they care for some very damaged and demanding people.

We will continue to rely on God’s faithfulness, for Him to supply according to our needs. As ever it is God’s greatness that puts hope in our hearts.

Swine Flu has also been a talking point at the farm and we are taking precautions to minimize the risk of individuals contracting the illness. Staff, volunteers and those in our care have taken the government slogan of ‘Catch it, Bin it, Kill it’ to heart and these days you will find antibacterial gel or hand wipes, extra tissues and bins on every project of the farm.

Our main concern is of course for our staff, volunteers and those in our care with underlying medical conditions, who will suffer worst if they get infected. Please pray for these folk.   mikey

With the news being inundated with bad news let us be encouraged by what Paul says in Romans 8:38-39:  ‘For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’
