groupOn Wednesday 20 Jan a group of men in our care, all involved in the agriculture project went to Newark, Nottinghamshire to visit the LAMMA exhibition. This annual event at Newark showground is the regions premier showcase for farming machinery, equipment and services with over 600 trade stands.

At this point I must allay any fears that we are considering embarking on a novelty livestock enterprise (Laamas) or turning Bhudist (Dali Laama)! This was a fact finding mission and a grand day out.

davidAfter an extended journey due to A1 road closure we were overwhelmed by the amazing quantity and variety of machinery on display. The limited amount of time we had didn’t allow us opportunity to see the half, however several huge tractors and combine harvesters were tested from the drivers seat. The mass of tweed clad farmers and long queues did not in any way deter the lads from their mission of finding something to eat! A hot pork sandwich was ‘birthday boy’ David’s enjoyable treat.

scottThere were many interesting and useful items on show including some which we need on the farm, but most of the lads would settle for a shiny new Quadbike, no doubt in the coming days a quiet word will be had with our CEO !
