The New Year
<< previous page
We’re now cracking on into 2006 and have already faced many new challenges. Christmas has always proved to be a difficult time for many of those in our care. A break in routine can often cause people problems.

So we’re looking ahead on into the new year. We have the dates for our 2006
open days, shows, and events all planned out, and we hope that these events will be beneficial to all who can come. We love to see as many people as possible, especially at our specific supporter day events, as it reminds us so clearly of the wonderful support and backing that we have from many people.

We’re excited when looking to the future with plans of what we are wanting to develop, especially with the new volunteer support we are getting on Floating Support, along with several other projects. The input of new volunteers on the floating support project has made a massive impact on the level of support we can offer. Once the five volunteers are all "up and running", it will enable the team to take on 15 to 20 more very needy homeless people. These new volunteers are making a tremendous difference and we really are looking forward to seeing this project grow.

The Daycare facility, including literacy and arts and crafts has proved to be hugely beneficial since it was commenced, and we are looking at improving the facilities for these projects.

The drama and catering academy began in the latter part of 2005, and these two projects have been extremely popular. Lots of people we support have shown interest in being involved and we are sure that the benefits in terms of personal development will be considerable.

Our first DVD produced last year was created very much as a test, to see its value to supporters. It has proved to be a great way of communicating our ministry and has turned into a full blown project. Those involved in this are looking to the future with great excitement as the opportunities to develop new ways of presenting our work are discovered. The response from supporters and people who have not been able to actually visit CFL, has been tremendous.

All those working in the various areas of the farm project activities are looking to the future with great eargerness; horticulture, agriculture and woodwork are all areas in which we will be taking on more trainees, and some people have already begun the new year by joining the projects for the first time. The farm is a very busy place!

Our greatest challenge though is not found in the projects themselves. It is not found in sourcing funds, or keeping cars on the road. It is not in finding new staff to fill roles that are urgently needed. The greatest challenge lies in all staff maintaining their emphasis of sharing Jesus' love, day by day, in a way that is honouring to Christ.

As a staff team we are to be humble, willing to listen to Christ and what he teaches. Phillipians 2 expresses this sentiment exactly;

"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."

What a wonderful challenge to us at Caring For Life. We are to emulate Christ, and as we do this, we know we will see people come to faith in Him. This is the true answer to peoples problems, and the one great hope in this damaged world.

Join with us as we embark on this new year with great anticipation of what can be achieved, knowing that with God.. ‘all’ things are possible, and that He will answer our prayers in a way that is more than we could ever imagine!
