The Master Builder by Simon Bryan-Smith
After writing this article I thought it a good idea to look at what was in the previous CFL web article. Instantly I recognised that there was a common theme and considered changing the content. However I think it is often a good thing when themes reoccur as it can be Gods way of emphasising what is important! This morning on my drive in to work I had the pleasure of listening to the cynical tones of Terry Wogan. One news item was the expected Oscar for Helen Mirrens portrayal of the Queen. On being asked if she had prepared a speech, she said something that made me think. I have a responsibility to the film makers and the film if I win an award. In other words she wanted to make sure that the things that made the film possible and ultimately her award were acknowledged publicly. As I look round CFL there are many people who do a brilliant job serving those who come into our care. Personally I think they all deserve an award, but I wonder what they would say in their acceptance speech? Would they thank their colleges? Maybe. Would they thank our prayer supporters? Certainly. But where would the ultimate thanks go? As Tim was saying in the l ast web article, the ultimate thanks goes to the One who first loved us. Jesus is what makes this ministry possible and any glory that is due (and there is much) is due to Him! It is Jesus who provides us with the compassion, hope, motivation and love required on a daily basis. So this year as we embark on building projects and have contact with lots of new people, we must be careful not to puff ourselves up with pride. Rather we should offer all the honour, glory and thanks to God, trusting that he will build this ministry by providing everything we need and that He will produce much fruit in the lives of those in CFLs care. Heb 3v4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. |
