A Difficult Task
(An update from the CFL Floating Support Team)

January saw the departure of our colleague Jenny Shelley. We are all very fond of her and we will really miss her. I know that the women that she has worked with will also miss her. We wish her God’s richest blessing in her future life.

God’s timing is amazing – Deborah Tibbs was able to start on our team at the beginning of January, allowing for a handover period with Jenny. Debs is settling into the team well – she is giving as good as she gets when George and Chris pull her leg! Unfortunately Debs’ boyfriend Morgan died of Leukaemia on 3rd February. Please pray for her and Morgan’s family as the funeral approaches. We are thankful that Morgan is with the Lord now, but we know that those left behind are grieving the loss.

We still have a vacancy for a Full-time Admin Assistant, so the team are feeling the strain of all of the paperwork that we have to do with 88 adults plus children and partners that we are involved in supporting.

The people that we support are up and down as usual! We always have things to thank the Lord for, like the time of prayer that George had with one man that we support recently, but we also continue to have many struggles as we try to help very damaged people to turn their lives around. Many of the people that we support struggle with money management. This month two of the people we support have failed to pay their rent and face eviction if they cannot quickly sort out their affairs. Another man has stopped paying his creditors and faces homelessness and a total breakdown in his life if we can’t work with him to make arrangements.

It is very frustrating when we work hard to help people to sort out budgets, flee violent partners or obtain new tenancies, only to see them slip back into the problem that we helped rescue them from! Please pray for us that we will have patience and that the Lord will give us breakthroughs in some of the impossible problems that we need to solve.
