May 19th was Caring For Lifes annual Plant Sales Day. Once again we were privileged to welcome supporters and members of the public alike.
The day started with last minute preparations and de-briefs to our faithful volunteer helpers, people to whom we owe a great debt of gratitude on our farm open days and throughout the year.
People started arriving early to purchase the best of the crop! It was wonderful to see good numbers of people arriving, especially in the morning.
Our polytunnels had a good steady number of people throughout the day. The refectory, where refreshments were sold, were encouraged by the fact that the building was full all day long; our meat and egg sales were steady throughout the day and our burger bar completley sold out of our very popular home made burgers.
The weather forecast for the day had been gloomy, however we enjoyed blue skies with occasional dark clouds. One of the gentlemen in our care for often prays before our open days that the weather will be fine, and this day, those prayers were definitely answered.
The day went brilliantly with good sales, but more importantly the opportunity to talk to many of our loyal supporters.
June sees the farm open its gates again on Saturday 23rd with our annual Open Day. We are looking forward to seeing more of our supporters and also people from the local area.
