Caring For Life has never been short of changes. Each year since its beginning there have been new developments, improvements to projects, new buildings, changes of landscapes, be it new hedgerows, pathways or ponds!
It was anticipated that this year would be an exciting one. One of our Trustees last year stated on a video, In 20 years to come we will look back and say that 2007 was a turning point. It certainly was a turning point and 2008 is panning out to be very special.
This year, as you will have seen on the website, many things are happening with our building work. The New Adult Learning Centre building is well and truly underway, with new deliveries of building materials happening every week. The cold weather has not helped massively, but nevertheless Russ, the on-site foreman from Wates, has still maintained steady progress with the building schedule.
The Adult Learning Centre will not just facilitate the running of our expressive arts programme, incorporating drama and music, but will also provide the Adult Literacy project with a home, alongside a lovely new area for the Arts and Crafts Project to be re-launched.
It will also host a brand new reception and sales area, along with a small coffee room, which we hope will attract new groups to the farm. Then our CMP, (Computing and Media) Project, will have a newly refurbished office space, which the current project workers are extremely excited about.
The new Stock Barn (PAM building
People and Animals Meeting) is now looking very impressive. Its much bigger than any other barn we have, and watching the progress of that building going up each day has been very exciting. As soon as that barn is completed, it will be greatly valued by the agriculture team, which has had very inadequate facilities for some time. No doubt the sheep, who will be due to lamb soon, will also appreciate their new quarters!
We are very grateful that Dunbai Meats, a company which has taken Caring For Life as a charity to support, are funding the erection of a new meat processing unit, revolutionizing our potential meat sales. This is another much-needed facility, which we hope to see completed mid-year.
But as the title states whats with all the change?
The work that is currently going on, exciting as it is, has one purpose, to enable many more vulnerable people to experience something of Gods love here at Caring For Life; to enable more people to acquire new skills, and to develop existing ones and to enable more people to find a home, lasting friendships, security and for many, to build up self-esteem for the first time.
The whole aim of this considerable building programme is to enable Caring For Life to simply work out its motto, Sharing the love of Jesus, providing facilities which will encompass many more people, will be pleasant to work in, and thus be honoring to God in all aspects of CFLs work.
We still need to raise funds to complete the building work, but are confident that God will touch the hearts of His people to provide us with the needed resources.
So its all change at CFL! Keep an eye on the website news throughout this coming year and join us in the excitement of all that is happening.
