Our New Home

The Art Project has been 'homeless' for quite a while, but now with the opening of the new Adult Learning Centre, we have just moved into our new home.
When the Art Studio was a shell with no roof, windows or doors, people would comment on what a huge space it was. Now it is beginning to come together with furniture and equipment, and the sunlight floods in through the glass doors and roof lights to provide a very welcoming atmosphere, a room to explore endless possibilities!
After so many years of being cramped, first in a caravan, and then a smallish office, the Art and Craft project can now really expand. We still have a large store of fabric and wool which have been donated over the years, sewing machines and knitting needles too, but it has been very exciting to be able to buy new supplies of paper, drawing and painting equipment.
We are equipping the art and craft project as we have never been able to do before, thanks to Trusts who have responded to our PR Team's efforts and letters, but also to gifts that we have received from supporters. Abi and I are just like little children on Christmas morning when some of the packages arrive for our project.
Most exciting of all of course, is the wonderful reality that all of these things are there to enable those in our care to explore and discover gifts that have lain dormant for most of their lives. As surely as we have been created by a wonderful God, and as surely as we are made in his image, I am convinced that everyone can experience the joy of discovering within themselves, creative expressions that we have all received. Through this, we long that people might discover not only their gifts but the Giver Himself in all His beauty.
The old hymn describes so aptly what Abi and I are hoping to see happen in our art and craft project.
Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.
