Agricultural Project

Based on a farm, CFL has opportunities that many inner-city projects do not. Working with animals and on the land has therapeutic benefits for damaged people who have suffered much in their earlier lives.

We use all the available space and facilities to enable people to develop skills, a sense of responsibility and self-esteem.

For many, involvement in these projects is a reason for living. When people work with animals under supervision, responsibility and care for animals gives a great sense of satisfaction and self worth. The beneficiaries soon realise that their input into an animal's welfare and good health is vital to their survival, thus creating a responsible attitude.

We have a wide range of animals including:

  • A flock of Free Range Hens (250 approximately)
  • White Faced Woodland sheep
  • A herd of Long-Horn cattle

Even the toughest-looking person, and those who have been hardened by experiences can be seen gently and calmly talking to the animals. Caring for animals is a perfect reason to show and receive affection.

We are able to speak of Christ's love as opportunities arise in this caring project.

The agriculture project does not just involve animal care. Harvest is also a very popular time. Each year hay and sileage are harvested from our own fields. Those on the project have been trained to use some of the equipment, always under supervision, and have developed skills required to complete the tasks. The free range eggs are graded and boxed, then delivered locally.

The project is ideal for building trust, relationships, plus real skills and responsibilities.
