Computing & Media Project

Our computer and media project has really taken off over the last year. We also undertake the majority of the Trust's design and web work, which is obviously computer-based. Therefore we have emphasised the computer side of our project here.

Over the years, we have been able to significantly develop these aspects of our projects, but what has really made the difference is seeing those we care for get involved and grow with us.

Some of the young people working on this project and can now assist with some of our graphic design jobs, help with technical issues with databases, and access a whole range of other programmes in order to help people. Some of the other jobs they assist with are helping to set up new computers or maintaining our current computer network, which seems to be ever-expanding.

On the media side some of our young people have become extremely proficient in DVD copying and have also learnt a great deal when it comes to putting films together on the computer, alongside staff on that project. We teach them a lot about using computers and the various programmes. Assisting with maintaining information about our local egg run, is a crucial aspect to getting orders right and helping when it comes to delivering the eggs to our customers gives self confidence.

There is never really a quiet time on this project with literature needing to be kept up to date, the bulletin that is produced each month, which often means most of the young people we support helping out in the office, and then we are always filming and producing a variety of DVD’s which helps enormously to keep people in touch with all that is happening at CFL.
