Being based on a farm is ideal in so many ways, enabling work with animals and on the land, also enabling the expansion and development of our horticulture projects. However being on the edge of beautiful countryside is also ideal for the development of a conservation project.
With 25 acres (approx) of land, but encompassing the entire area of the farm, the conservation project has been developed by staff, volunteers and those in our care, and is a wonderful place of beauty. Much hard work has gone into creating the 4 wildlife ponds and scrapes, which all need maintaining. The many hedgerows around the farm, the planting of hundreds of trees, wildlife areas, pathways laid to enable easier access, and the installation of two hides, plus year-round maintenance of wild bird feeding stations; all are facets of this project.
The project has been tremendous for welcoming many groups, including terminally ill children, church outings, special needs groups, elderly persons groups and wildlife enthusiasts. |
