Floating Support Project

Those in the care of this project are encouraged to spend leisure time together in groups, which can consist of day trips to the beach, countryside or even a visit to the local bowling alley. Referrals come in via many different sources: Social Services, Probation, Housing Department, churches, friends of individuals, self-referrals or other organisations in the housing sector. The need for assistance is obvious and our aim is to lay a foundation of friendship and trust which will enable people to maintain a tenancy, to emerge from the difficulties of the past, and face the future with new hope. Many of those cared for have the added difficulty of a mental health problem, a learning disability or a physical disability. Others have serious psychological problems. All needs are dealt with individually, and each person treated with dignity, not as numbers on a list, or problems for a city. The love of Jesus expressed through our staff on this project has turned lives around and helped many people come to terms with their situation, bringing dignity and self respect to those who have so often been abused in the past.
