Supported Homes

If finding a person somewhere to rest their head was the only problem that had to be addressed, then the ministry of Caring For Life would be able to help hundreds more people. However finding accommodation is only the tip of the iceberg. Many more needs have to be addressed in order to help people to cope with the hurt or neglect they have experienced in the past. Some are then able to move on into independent living, but for others, Tindall House or Wendy Margaret Home is their home, for as long as they wish to stay. We currently run two homes, one housing 8 men, and one for 8 women. The homes are structured specifically so as not to be institutional. Set in residential areas, these two homes offer emotional security and a place to belong for the residents. Each person has their own bedroom for which they are responsible and which is private. Life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, washing and personal hygiene are skills that are often taken for granted. However many of those in our care have never been shown the most simple of tasks and need support and nurturing, just to live from day to day. The residents' safety is foremost in our mind, and we have had domestic sprinkler systems installed in both properties. Whilst each home is great and offers emotional stability, the daytime activity projects that you can read about, estabish a safe, structured lifestyle. Residents attend the daytime activities unless they are in employment, full-time education or other suitable alternatives.
