Small Mammals Project

Hidden away in a corner of the farm is a most amazing project. Our small mammals have won many prizes at various shows. However this is only one part of the achievement of this project.

People have learnt to care for these small creatures. Each day over 100 guinea pigs need cleaning, watering or feeding and general care of the pens is undertaken under close supervision. These simple tasks are crucial to help a person, who may have suffered much abuse, to understand responsibility.

As mentioned, some of our guinea pigs are award winners, and the excitement and pride that is visible on the faces of those people who take them to show when an award is given, is priceless! The feeling of achievement, along with the knowledge of how much work has gone into looking after these small animals is heartwarming.

The team also look after rabbits, chinchillas and a growing flock of ornamental fowl, so their responsibilities are increasing!
