Caring For Life Projects

The Caring For Life projects can basically be broken down into two main areas, housing and daytime activities. To read more about the projects, click the picture or the project title below.
Housing
The two housing projects we run provide support and care for as long as the person wishes and needs. This helps to establish genuine emotional security which many of those in our care will never have known.

Supported Homes

We currently run two supported homes, a home for 8 men, and a home for 8 women. Set away from our headquarters at the farm, these homes are established in residential areas in local communities.

Floating Support Our Floating Support team visit people in their own accommodation, offering support in all aspects of a person's life, helping them to maintain a tenancy;from enabling appointments, to just having a cup of coffee, to building friendships.

Therapeutic Daytime Projects
The Caring For Life Daytime projects, based at CFL's headquarters on a farm in Cookridge, are very significant in helping vulnerable people to achieve a settled, constructive lifestyle.

Agriculture Comprising 72 acres of land with farm animals including Long-Horn cattle, White-faced Woodland sheep and Free Range Hens. This project is crucial in the development of self-respect and responsibility.

Horticulture 4 Polytunnels which incorporate raised beds and heated tables, also a vegetable garden area and standing area. This project is ideal for those with physical disabilities to grow a huge variety of plants. A plant sales day is held each year.

Conservation Encompassing a good proportion of the farm's land, this project has established and maintains 4 ponds and scrapes, a pathway and transport enabling physically disabled people to access the area, 2 hides and a sensory garden.... and more.

Woodwork A fully equipped woodwork shop enables those who work on the project to produce a wide range of items that are able to be sold in our small sales area.

Small Mammals With a variety of guinea pigs, beneficiaries on this project have a great opportunity to show their animals at national competition shows, often winning rosettes for their efforts.

Equestrian Project With two Shire Horses, Two Dales Ponies and a Fell Pony, this project trains people in care of horses, stable managment, riding and ultimatley driving.

Art & Craft The project enables people to try their hand at a wide variety of art and craft skills and is deeply therapeutic. The main project is currently on hold until new facilities are provided.

Music Workshop Music can be a very powerful way of encouraging confidence & self-esteem, helping people to socialise and engage with other people, providing an expressive and creative outlet.

Drama Workshop As the drama workshops have progressed, we have seen the young people grow in confidence in terms of improvisation and mime, poetry recital and drama sketches.

Adult Literacy This vital project enables people to develop their literacy and numeracy skills in the safe environment of personal tuition at Caring For Life.
