Time for Jesus

I have loved my year so far, it has been a joy to be part of the Caring for Life family.

The easing of restrictions in the past few months has brightened up the farm as beneficiaries are back on projects. It has been lovely getting to know everyone better and working alongside beneficiaries and chatting to different people around the farm.

There has been such a huge range of jobs and activities that we’ve done during the year including helping with lambing; building fences; washing and painting the chicken sheds; planting thousands of plugs for bedding plants and singing loudly and out of tune on bible study zooms. I’ve enjoyed learning so much from a variety of projects and seeing how they all fit together to create a place in which people feel safe and loved and can work hard with those that care about them.

It has also been a privilege working in a place which starts each day with prayer. Due to Covid restrictions, instead of the normal group prayer time in the centre each morning, we pray in smaller groups over zoom. I’ve loved getting to know my prayer group and it’s been good sharing our days ahead and praying for each other and those in our care every day.

I’m thankful that although we are weak and inadequate we can fix our eyes on Jesus who loves us, has gone before us and gives us all we need for each and every day.

‘let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.’ Hebrews 12:1-2
