Agriculture

A FARM WITH A DIFFERENCE

Crag House Farm is a working farm, but so much more. As the “home” of Caring For Life, for all those attending therapeutic activities here, it becomes their farm. Working with animals on our Agriculture Project has always been a popular activity.

CARING FOR ANIMALS

Those who opt to join in the agriculture project tend to love the outdoors. They also love being “hands on” with the livestock. Caring for the Longhorn cattle, Lleyn sheep and the land they graze, is all part of the routines, which follow the seasons and bring their own sense of security and purpose.

SEASONAL TASKS

Looking after the cattle during the winter months is a big task, but the animals can be handled safely in our PAM (People and Animals Meeting) purpose-built barn. Lambing and calving make spring a really exciting time and summer activities include showing the sheep at local shows; just a few of the seasonal tasks involved.

RELATING TO ANIMALS... AND PEOPLE

Relating to other people can be very difficult, for lots of reasons. Sometimes, caring for animals is the first step in helping a person relate more comfortably to their fellow human beings.
