The Best Bit of My Day

Best Bit Of My Day - Matthew promo shots-11 copy.jpg

What is the best bit of your day? We all know what it should be, but how many of us will say, “it’s time with the kids”, “walking with the wife”, “going home after work” or “mealtimes”?

In truth, any time with the Lord should be the best bit of our day, and that’s what we try to teach those who come to Caring For Life for love and support.

We thank the Lord we have opportunities to share the good news of the Gospel with the many individuals who attend our projects or who we visit across the city of Leeds, England.

But so many know absolutely nothing about the Bible or the Christian faith, so as we talk with them, we are starting right from square one.

Another hurdle we must overcome is the fact that many don’t read or, if they do, they have very limited understanding of what they are reading.

To address these issues, we have taken the time to think through how we present the Gospel and introduce the word of God, the message that never changes, with a group of people whose lives and circumstances are constantly changing.

The Bible studies we host are interactive and are conversational and this helps to involve all those who attend. We make it clear that anyone can ask anything, and that no question is stupid or a waste of time. If a person has no faith, why would we expect them to understand?

We have also been writing our own study notes to help people access God’s word. The notes have covered the Gospels of John and Matthew, the book of Acts, a three-part series looking at the Old Testament, and we are now working on the storyline of the Bible.

Each Christmas we produce Advent notes, through the month of December, to help people understand the miracle of Christmas as we look at the majesty of Jesus. Alongside the written notes we provide an audio version.

In 2023, with the kind help of EP, we were able to publish and promote our first book called, ‘Best bit on my Day’ …getting to know Jesus, in the book of Matthew.

This is a 90-day study made accessible for those who are new the Christian faith or for those who might struggle to read or have comprehension issues.

We are praying that these books and notes enable many to find Jesus and come to understand the deep truths of the Bible in a way that helps them grow in their faith.

We hope in the coming year to publish our next book, studying John’s Gospel in 90 days.

All these books and notes, we hope and pray, will cause people to be passionate about Jesus and to seek after knowing him better and ultimately, to live for His glory.

Those who struggle with the issues we are addressing, need more encouragement than most, and when you put in the mix a person’s traumatised life or ongoing abuse, Christ needs to be made as accessible as possible. That’s why efforts are being made to do this because we believe everyone is valuable to the Lord, no matter what they have gone through or going through.

We thank the Lord that we are seeing people wanting more of his word and that they are coming to us with questions, following reading or talking.

Please pray for those who are currently searching, but who have yet to confess Jesus as Lord. Pray they would come to see Him and know Him for real, so that as they study, the words on the page take up an accent and the characters become real, especially our Lord Jesus.

Luke 24 v 32 “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
