CFL’S Big Quiz Fundraiser

A couple of weeks ago we held our first-ever Caring For Life Big Quiz Fundraiser here at the farm in our Granary Restaurant. The idea behind this fundraiser was not only to raise vital funds for the work of Caring For Life, but also to raise awareness and to share the work of the charity with some of our Crag House Farm Loyalty customers.

To kick off the evening we served pie, chips, and seasonal vegetables, all made by our wonderful chefs, along with a lovely selection of traybake desserts. The quiz itself consisted of 2 picture rounds and 6 question rounds and there was a healthy amount of competition all round! The 16 teams were competing to win back the price of their table for the evening… but we couldn’t let last place go away empty handed either. We presented those that finished at the bottom with a small wooden spoon, crafted by our Woodwork Project!

We also hosted a ‘Balloon Pop Surprise’, where we encouraged folk to buy a balloon, pop it, and find out what prizes they had won! We had some fantastic prizes donated to us from various local businesses such as Harewood House, Leeds Knights and Betty’s Tea Rooms, so everyone who bought a balloon came away happy with a prize!

With almost 90 people attending the evening, it was one of the biggest events we have held in the Restaurant. Jonathan was our Quiz Master for the evening and halfway through the night he also gave a short presentation on the origins of Caring For Life and how we support people in our care.

It was great to see many people hear about the work Caring For Life for the first time and to realise that we exist to share the love of Jesus with the most marginalised in society.

Please pray with us that we will also be able to share Jesus’ love and gospel with our many customers too.

It really was a wonderful evening, full of fun and laughter, and one which we hope to do again!
